Nowadays, the Penetration of renewable power generation systems such as solar, wind, and wave conversion systems in electrical grids has been increased significantly. The integration, protection, and control of these new power sources are challenging subjects that attract the attention of the researchers. In this presentation, an advanced control strategy for renewable power generation systems will be presented and the advantages will be discussed. Moreover, some protection and stability issues will be presented for Renewable power plants and the new research works in this line will be introduced.
Mohammad Zarei Short Bio. Postdoctoral researcher in Electrical System Unit since February 2020. His research lines are control of electronic power converters; electrical machines drive; energy management systems, power system stability analysis, energy storage systems, microgrids.
He received the B.Sc. degree from Iran University of Science and Technology, Tehran, Iran, in 2009, the M.Sc. degree from University of Tehran, Tehran, Iran in 2013, and the Ph.D. degree from Technical University of Madrid (Universidad Politécnica de Madrid), Madrid, Spain, in 2019, all in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. He has participated as a researcher in various research projects at the national and international level and has published more than 12 journal papers (Q1), and has participated and published more than 10 conference papers in national and international events. In 2017, he was collaborating with Canepa Green Energy España for the power system stability analysis for the installed wind farms. In 2018, he was invited to the power electronic department of the University of Padua, Padua, Italy, as a visiting Ph.D. student to worked on the stability analysis of renewable power generation systems under the supervision of Professor Paolo Mattavelli. In 2019, he started working with the R&D section of Norvento Energy, Madrid, and worked on control designing of wind turbines and battery energy storage systems for Microgrids. Since February 2020, he has been working in the electrical systems unit of the IMDEA Energy Institute, where he investigates issues related to designing modern control systems for the power electronic converters and electrical drives, power system stability analysis, and energy management systems.
